My Faux Wood Blinds Are Stuck And Won’t Lower. What Do I Do?

March 1st, 2010 admin 1 comment

We got new blinds installed today. On a large window we raised the blinds to the maximum point. However, now we cannot get the blinds to lower. I dont want to break them but I’m stuck. It’s the weekend so I’ll have to wait until Monday to call the shop. If someone knows a quick fix please let me know.

What Do You Think Of This Story?

March 1st, 2010 admin 2 comments

Please rate this story. 1 = I hate it; 10 = OM Gosh! I love it! More! MORE!!!
Nothing existed but the quivering of metal strings against Gregory Herrington’s fingers as he stroked them with his bow. The cello let the sound resonate inside of its hollow wooden shell. Gregory enjoyed feeling the vibrations on the strings. Once again, he fell into his private world. His eyes slowly closed, his breathing slowed.
He was sitting on a curved tree in a forest. There were shafts of light cascading down to the dirt paths from behind the ever-shifting leaves on the oaks around him. The wind slowly washed the forest clean of the impurities of man. Gregory moved the bow, playing the song of the woods where he quietly sat. No one else could see the bright glistening emerald leaves. No one else could see the shafts of yellow-gold light or the bright brown bark. They were blind to this world and Gregory was charged with revealing the world of imagination to them.
The world suddenly became darker as a storm weaved overhead. Lightning flashed. Thunder rocked the ground and trees. In the distance, a shadowy figure approached. The peaceful woodland creatures scurried away in fear.
Gregory could not allow this dark creature to ruin this peaceful forest of dreams. He put his heart into the bow. Light sprung up from the cello, illuminating the shadows. The figure was whithering in the light for a moment before it suddenly grew to great and terrible hieghts. It reared its head. The storm intensified, sending more lightning and thunder down upon the forest. Now rain fell as though the sky were mourning for the loss that was about to occur. Gregory would not allow it.
The warmth of hope and faith poured out of him like a waterfall of light and vibrations. The ripples of sound emmitted more light. The beast shrank away in fear. At last the enemy had been vanquished. The storm settled as rain continued to fall from clear blue skies. Chipmunks and birds came out of their hiding places and continued to scamper around the woods. Fear was gone.
With peace restored, Gregory let the cello play the music of the world around him. Slowly. . . softly. . . slowly. . . softly. . .
Fading. . .
At last the vibrations were no more. Gregory opened his hazel eyes and looked back into the real world. Three other musicians sat in the room with him. Daniel Jacobson sat behind his cello with tears stainging his emerald eyes. Gregory glanced over at the man behind the drums. A smile of pure astonishment was spread across Blaine Taylors lips. The pianist, Thomas Gibbs was utterly shocked at what he had heard. Gregory’s attention was called back to Daniel when he saw his hands moving.
“That was beautiful,” Daniel signed. Gregory smiled and moved his hands up, his fingertips touched to his chin and then fell down in indication to Daniel.
“Thank you,” he signed in return. The three men were amazed. Everytime Gregory put his bow to the strings, he astonished people. Often times, people would just stare in bewilderment. Gregory’s talent was unimaginable. He could paint a story with music. Music that he himself could not hear.
After all, Gregory Herrington was deaf.
